Responsible Care Activities
Responsible Care (RC) is a voluntary initiative by companies that manufacture and handle chemical substances. It aims to identify and minimize the environmental, health, and safety impacts associated with these substances throughout their entire life cycle — from development and manufacturing to distribution, consumption, recycling, and final disposal.
Sakai Chemical Industry participates in RC activities as a member of the Japan Chemical Industry Association.
For details of our activities, please refer to the Responsible Care Data Book.
Environmental Protection
To minimize the environmental impact of our business activities, prevent pollution, and conduct operations in harmony with nature, we have established and maintained an Environmental Management System based on ISO 14001 and are working on environmental conservation initiatives.
Under our Basic Environmental Policy, we have set company-wide environmental targets, as well as objectives for each plant, factory, and department to promote environmental protection.
Occupational Health and Safety
Based on our Basic Health and Safety Policy and the Health and Safety Action Guidelines, we have developed safety and health management plans for each business area, promoting occupational safety and health activities.
Sakai Chemical Industry also actively supports health and safety activities at Group companies to create workplaces that protect the safety of all employees across the Group.
Safety and Disaster Prevention
Our manufacturing sites and plants conduct disaster prevention drills on a regular basis.
We prepare for disasters by managing stockpiled emergency supplies, conducting employee safety confirmation drills using our safety confirmation system, and maintaining firefighting and emergency equipment.
Following the explosion and fire accident at the zinc dust plant of the Yumoto Factory in May 2021 and the fire accident at the titanium dioxide plant of the Onahama Manufacturing Site in March 2023, we continue to implement measures to prevent explosion and fire accidents and reduce risks, with a firm commitment to avoiding recurrence.
Logistics Safety
To prevent accidents and disasters during the transportation of chemical products, we monitor domestic and international regulatory trends. Through this initiative, we strictly manage hazardous chemicals during transportation, establishing clear procedures for emergency response.
Sakai Chemical Industry prepares emergency contact cards (Yellow Cards) that describe the actions to be taken by drivers, firefighters, and police officers in the event of a transportation accident, and provides them to logistics companies.
Chemical Products, Product Safety, and Quality
From raw material procurement to production, logistics, sales, use, and disposal, we manage risks related to hazards and harmful effects on the environment, health, and safety throughout the product life cycle.
At Sakai Chemical Industry, we provide up-to-date information on the chemical substances contained in our products through Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemSHERPA to ensure the safe use of our products.
We also obtain relevant legal and regulatory information on a regular basis and share it across the Group.
In addition, by establishing and operating a Quality Management System (QMS) based on ISO 9001 (JIS Q 9001), we strive to enhance quality reliability and improve customer satisfaction through prompt and precise responses to advanced quality requirements.

Dialogue with Society
We discuss and exchange information with local communities around each manufacturing site and factory on understanding of operations and environmental improvement.
The Company also contributes to local communities by participating in regional events and conducting cleanup activities.
