Barium and Strontium Products

Barium and strontium are used in compound form in a large number of applications outside of X-ray contrast agents and other healthcare solutions. These fields include electronic materials, paints, inks, plastics, glass, and cosmetics.

Sakai Chemical Group’s strengths
  • We are constantly developing products in the segment that fulfill the needs of today by leveraging our long-standing proprietary ultrafine and high purification technologies and established track record.
  • We offer an extensive lineup or products that can meet just about any need.
  • In recent years, we have integrated our ultrafine, shape control and high dispersion technologies to create new products for cosmetic materials, which have already earned a strong reputation from customers.
Main applications
  • Barium sulfate is used in a wide range of applications, from paints and inks to plastics and cosmetics, because it is chemically stable.
  • Barium carbonate and strontium carbonate are essential raw materials for today’s IT components, including laminated ceramic capacitors, TFT and optical glass.
For paints, inks, plastics
Our proprietary powder technologies, surface treatment techniques and dispersal capabilities make it possible for barium and strontium to be used in automotive overcoats and middle coats, various industrial paints, various inks, and various plastics paints, and functional filler for plastics. Our extensive product lineup spans from particle diameters of 0.01µm to 10µm.
For electronic materials
Barium sulfate is used in resist ink for printed-circuit boards. Barium carbonate and strontium carbonate are used in laminated ceramic capacitor materials.
For cosmetics
We have integrated our long-standing ultrafine, shape control and high dispersion technologies to enable barium sulfate to be used in foundation, lipstick and other cosmetics.
For pharmaceuticals
Japanese pharmacopoeia barium is used as an X-ray contrast agents.
For various additives
Barium and strontium products are also used in a wide range of other applications.
